Merthyr Tydfil manager Paul Sugrue believes his side can laugh their way into the First Round Proper of The FA Cup - with the help of Del Trotter and Peter Kay.

Sugrue is hoping the TV funnymen will inspire his side to FA Cup glory when they travel to fellow Southern League side Maidenhead United on Saturday.

He said: "I wanted to travel up to Maidenhead the night before. I had a word with the lads and they said that they wanted to go up on the morning.

"I think they are a bit superstitious to be honest, so they would like to carry on with their routine. We are all going up on the coach and will be playing cards and watching 'Only Fools and Horses' on video.

"That is what we do and then we concentrate on the game when we get there - and we have Peter Kay on the way back.

"We are undefeated this season and I think that is why they want to keep it going. I think the episode with the chandelier breaking is my favourite, but they are all funny. Good humour is important to the team spirit.

"Every game in The Cup is a real bonus because we have to concentrate on the league at the moment and getting promotion. What I have said to the boys is The Cup is like a weekend off and they can go and enjoy the game."
