Danny Whelan became an FA Cup hero when he fired home the winning penalty as Cray Wanderers beat Winchester City 5-4 on penalties on Tuesday night.

The sides finished 2-2 on Saturday 16th Septermber and again in the replay after extra-time at Hayes Lane in front of the BBC cameras to set up a nail-biting finish.

Cray will now face Leatherhead, who sealed an emphatic 3-0 win over local rivals Molesey with two goals from in-form striker Marc Charles-Smith and one from Adam Gray.

Elswehere, a Martyn Andrews brace was enough to see Trafford through to the Second Qualifying Round after Paul Ashton's goal equalised Lee Southwood's opener in their 3-1 win over plucky Chadderton.

Clevedon earned a home tie with Willand Rovers in the next round after easing past Truro with a last-gasp winner from Danny Haines in the second minute of stoppage time. The match was marred by two serious injuries which involved Clevedon's Sean Sevill and Truro skipper Tom Smith going to hospital.

Steve Cook hit a hat-trick as Taunton came from behind to beat Swindon Supermarine 3-2 and secure a trip to Southern League rivals Bashley in the next stage of the competition.

Supermarine led 2-1 at the break after scoring twice in the opening six minutes through JP Mills and Josh Jeffries before Cook struck.
