Ahead of Saturday's FA Cup Final we reveal the lineup of The FA Cup 'Team of Heroes' as voted for by you the fans. The competition began to commemorate the incredible contribution of the players in 125 years - and after more than 10,000 votes we have our team.

And The FA's very own Director of Football Development, Trevor Brooking, has been honoured by supporters around the country with a place in the team following his double delight in the competition as a West Ham legend.

Brooking, a cultured midfielder who played for the Hammers throughout his 19-year career, lifted the trophy in 1975 and 1980 - and scored the winning goal in that second successful Final.

He made his West Ham debut in 1967, but had to wait eight years for his first trophy when the east London club beat capital rivals Fulham 2-0 in The FA Cup Final thanks to two goals from Alan Taylor.

Brooking scored his first Cup goal that season en route to the Wembley showpiece and he did not score another one until the next time West Ham lifted the trophy - five years later in 1980.

The midfielder got a couple in that Cup run, but the most memorable was undoubtedly the one against hot favourites Arsenal in the Final that secured a 1-0 win - the last time a Second Division side claimed the honours.

Brooking was renowned for his skill, although his heading ability was not high on his list of attributes, but when Stuart Pearson sent a low shot into the danger area he stooped low to guide the ball past Pat Jennings and into the net.

"The FA Cup is amazing," he admitted later. "More than 20 years later I can honestly say not one week has gone by without somebody mentioning the header.

"If you had told me as I walked out on the pitch that day that something would happen that would be part of my life for the next 20 years, I wouldn't have believed you."

Brooking also made an impact with England as he earned 47 caps between 1974 and 1982, the highlight being two goals against Hungary that were vital in taking the Three Lions to the World Cup Finals in Spain.
