It's the 125th season of The FA Cup, the world's greatest domestic cup competition, and our search for the All-Time FA Cup Team of Heroes is gathering pace.
We continue our detailed look into the contenders to help you decide just who you want in your team - remember the decision about who makes the team is down to you, the fans. You can choose your team by clicking here.
Ian Rush is a name that immediately springs to mind when you think of great FA Cup goalscorers, so it is no surprise that the Liverpool legend made it onto our list of heroes.
The Welshman holds the record for the player with the most goals in FA Cup Finals, having scored five times in just three Wembley outings in the 1980s and 90s.
For Rush, scoring just the one would have been a boyhood dream for a player who believes the competition has never lost it’s standing in the game.
Rush recalls the last of his five final goals in 1992 in a 2-0 win for Liverpool over Sunderland, and said: “Everyone kept reminding me before the game of what the goal would’ve meant so when I actually got it, that was quite pleasing.
“Scoring in The FA Cup final is everyone’s dream. The Final against Everton in 1986 was fantastic for me because it was the first final I played in, and it was the first Merseyside derby in an FA Cup Final, which was a great thing for the city.
“Your dream as a kid was not to win the league but win The FA Cup. Especially if you’re British, The FA Cup’s always that little bit special.”
Rush is looking forward to his beloved Liverpool making an assault on the FA Cup, and he is confident that they can overcome Premiership Champions Chelsea in next month’s Semi-Final.
To make it even sweeter for the Welshman, he would love to see his club win it again at the Millennium Stadium.
Rush said: “Liverpool have got as good a chance as Chelsea and there’s no reason why they can’t beat them. Whoever wins that tie will be the favourites for The Cup.
“The Millenium Stadium has been fantastic. All the players have enjoyed playing there and all the fans have enjoyed going there. I’ll be sorry being a Welshman to see The Cup Final leave Cardiff, plus Liverpool have always done well there!
“The new Wembley will make a difference and I’m sure that the first Final there will be spectacular. Every team will want to play in that game.”
It's now down to you, the fans. You can pick your own Team of Heroes from our final list in a 4-3-3 formation until the closing date of midnight on Monday 24 April 2006.
