Hayden Mullins would love the chance to help West Ham beat Middlesbrough on Sunday and achieve his boyhood dream of playing in an FA Cup Final.

Mullins still has fresh memories of watching his boyhood club Tottenham play in several FA Cup Finals and always dreamed one day that he could be playing in one himself.

The talented player has been outstanding alongside Nigel Reo-Coker at the heart of the West Ham midfield and played a crucial role in helping Alan Pardew’s side reach the last four of the competition.

Mullins is confident his side have enough quality to beat Middlesbrough at Villa Park and give him the chance to play in his first ever Cup Final.

Mullins said: “I remember supporting Spurs when I was young. The record they had in The FA Cup was amazing.

“When The FA Cup was on television, everyone came round to watch - it is tradition. It is a big highlight.

“My brother was Liverpool and I was a Spurs fan. I just got attracted to the team they had at the time. It was a great side - the team I remember watching had Glenn Hoddle and then Paul Gascoigne, people like that.

“I met him [Gazza] once - to fellow professionals he is a bit more softer and is a great lad.

“The FA Cup is one of the biggest tournaments in the world and for us to be one game away from The Final is a massive achievement. I have never been to a Final, so this would be my very first one if we get there.”

Mullins is convinced his side can bounce back from their 2-0 defeat against Middlesbrough on Monday in what was billed as the dress rehearsal for Sunday’s big game.

The former Crystal Palace midfielder believes the atmosphere around the whole day will make it a totally different affair and that his side will be ready for the game.

Mullins added: “The belief is there, we know what we can do as a team and know if we play well on the day then we have a massive chance of going through.

“We have played them before and were nowhere near our best, but hopefully we will go there and be ready.

“At the start of the season our main objective was to stay up, but now we are one game away from Europe and could possibly finish seventh. If we do that, it would be unbelievable.”
