Tim Buzaglo was nominated by Woking. Buzaglo scored a hat-trick as Woking of the Isthmian League won 4-2 at Second Division West Bromwich Albion in the Third Round in 1991. Woking subsequently lost 1-0 at Everton in Round Four.

That was a great win for Woking at West Brom wasn’t it?

Oh it was tremendous. Personally, I didn’t think we had a chance of winning. I was always pessimistic in advance of matches against teams who were better than us. But once I got out on the pitch, I was totally different and I didn’t care who the opposition were. I would back myself against anybody. But I still didn’t think we would win that easily and that comfortably against West Brom.

What do you remember of your hat-trick?

The first goal was a good ball through from Derek Brown and I scored from just outside the box. The second came from a long clearance by our keeper Tim Read. Derek Brown flicked it on and the West Brom defenders Strodder and Roberts were a bit square. The ball looped over the top of them and I just ran past and scored. The third was a fantastic move that involved about seven players. It ended up with Adie Cowler pushing up from the back, squaring the ball to me and I just hit it.

Was it the best day of your playing career?

I know we won at West Brom but my best experience was actually playing Everton at the next stage. There were 35,000 people at Goodison Park. We weren’t given a cat in hell’s chance of winning that game but we only lost 1-0. I found that a more pleasing match to play in. I don’t know why. Maybe because we were up against better players. It was a fantastic experience for me.

How do you feel about being nominated for the FA Cup Team of Heroes?

It is an honour. I am thrilled. And it was nice of Woking to nominate me. I don’t think there can be many Non-League players - if any - who have scored a hat-trick against a side from the second tier of English football.

What are you up to nowadays?

I am 44 now and I work as a caretaker at a school in Cobham. Football-wise, I am back playing with my mates in the team I started out with - Guildford City Weysiders in the Guildford and Woking Alliance Division 1. I have a run-out on a Saturday afternoon as it is something for me to do.
