Dean Ashton's brace booked West Ham United a place in The FA Cup Semi-Finals in a thrilling match at the City of Manchester Stadium. His fourth and fifth goals for the club, either side of half time, knocked Manchester City out and secured a nomination for the prestigious award, run in partnership with UMBRO.
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is also in the running for the Sixth Round award after commanding his team to a seven goal demolition of Birmingham City.
Gerrard, the Red's top scorer this season, played a major part in four of Liverpool's goals as his team swept aside the Blues in front of their own crowd.
Chelsea skipper John Terry's goal in the fourth minute ended Newcastle United's and Alan Shearer's dream of Cup glory but it propelled him into contention for the award. The 1-0 win also keeps Chelsea's league and Cup 'double' hopes alive.
In the last Quarter-Final on Thursday night, Middlebrough's Ugo Ehiogu put in a strong performance against Charlton helping earn his nomination for the Player of the Round award and a home replay for 'Boro.
