The nominations are in for the Player of the Round award and they include two Premiership stars, a veteran ‘keeper and two League one stars who played their part in memorable Cup upsets. To make your choice vote in our online Poll.

The line-up of nominees includes Manchester United’s Rio Ferdinand who excelled in his makeshift midfield role in the 3-1 win over Wolves and Bolton’s Ricardo Gardner whose pinpoint cross set up the 84th minute winning goal against FA Cup holders Arsenal.

They are joined by a super-sub, veteran Stoke ‘keeper Ed De Goey, who made a world class finger-tip save in the dying seconds to seal a 2-1 win over Walsall and Brentford’s marksman DJ Campbell, who bagged a sensational double to send Premiership strugglers Sunderland crashing out.

Colchester United’s midfield maestro Neil Danns is also in the running after scoring twice in his side’s 3-1 win over Derby, having toppled Sheffield United in the last round.

Fans are now being urged to vote for the players in our online poll before the closing date of 6 February, and if you enter our competition before midday on Friday, you could be in with a chance to win two tickets to the Fifth Round match of your choice.

The player with the most votes will become the seventh FA Cup ‘Player of the Round’ this season and will win £1000 worth of UMBRO football kit for a local school, club or organisation.

He will also receive an engraved silver salver. Players were nominated by a team of panellists including Radio 5 Live’s Mark Clemmit, The Daily Telegraph’s Ricky George, Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday anchorman Jeff Stelling and David Watters, news editor of The Non League Paper.

The winning player will automatically join The FA’s Team of The FA Cup, guaranteeing VIP attendance at the 125th FA Cup final at the new Wembley stadium, on 13 May 2006.

The Team of The FA Cup comprises Player of the Round winners from the First Qualifying Round to the Semi Final.
