The FA Cup Second Round Proper Replay The Glassworld Stadium Wednesday 14 December 2005 Winning clubs receive £24,000Nuneaton have made it through to the Third Round of The FA Cup to play Middlesbrough - but only by the skin of their teeth.
Despite opening the scoring shortly after half an hour through Rob Oddy, Histon managed to pull level fifteen minutes into the second half after a concerted effort from the Conference South side.
The game looked like heading for extra time with both teams failing to take the initiative in the final moments, but just when it seemed like an extra half an hour would be needed to separate the teams, Nuneaton snatched victory.
Neil Moore popped up in the last minute of normal time to stab home the winning goal from a corner. Histon will be disappointed after creating a number of chances before equalising, but so many missed efforts allowed Nuneaton to stay in the game until the dying moments.
Nuneaton will now have the dream tie of Premiership outfit Middlesbrough, while the cruel defeat for Histon will force them to focus on their Conference South campaign, in which they are currently sixth.
Histon manager Steve Fallon said: "I am lost for words a little, I think that we deserved to go through and we proved what a good team we are, but we were unlucky.
"We have to pick ourselves up and bounce back, it would have been a dream to play Middlesbrough but we have other things that we have to turn our attention to now."
