The names in the frame include Tamworth defender Matt Redmile whose towering second half header put the Nationwide Conference strugglers 2–1 ahead in the giant-killing victory over Hartlepool.

Stiff competition is provided by Stevenage Borough ‘keeper Alan Julian who made a string of superb saves either side of the break to earn a 2–2 draw with Northampton Town.

Chester City marksman Ryan Lowe, who scored twice in the 3–0 win over twice European Cup winners, Nottingham Forest, and Mansfield Town’s Richie Barker who starred in the 3–0 win over Nationwide Conference high flyers Gray’s Athletic are also nominated.

Doncaster Rovers’ Dave Mulligan, who scored two blistering free kicks in the 2–1 away win at Boston, completes the formidable lineup.
