Northwich Victoria’s Paul Brayson and Tiverton Town’s Mike Booth, who both scored hat-tricks, are in the running for the award. Enfield Town’s heroic defender Russell Penn, Cray Wanderers two-goal livewire Jamie Wood and Solihull Borough’s Jamie Petty, who also scored twice, complete the five-man nomination.
Paul Brayson steered Northwich Victoria to a 4-1 win over Frickley Athletic and Mike Booth helped Tiverton Town become the day’s joint top scoring side, beating Highworth Town 7-1.
Russell Penn helped ten-man Enfield Town earn a 1-1 draw against St. Albans City with a heroic display after losing their centre-half to a red card and Jamie Wood (pictured), playing his 260th game for Cray, scored the first two goals in a 4-1 win over Camberley Town.
Jamie Petty, who re-joined Solihull Borough for his third spell at the start of this season, caught the eye as he hit the back of the net twice in the club’s 3-0 win over Ilkeston Town.
Fans are now being urged to vote for the players in an online poll on our homepage before the deadline of 9.00am on Monday 3 October.
The player with the most votes will be crowned FA Cup ‘Player of the Round’ and will win £1000 worth of UMBRO football kit for a local school, club or organisation. He will also receive an engraved silver salver.
A team of panelists nominates players for the award. The panellists include Radio 5 Live’s Mark Clemmit, The Daily Telegraph’s Ricky George, Sky Sports’ Jeff Stelling, David Watters, news editor of The Non League Paper and FA Chief Executive Brian Barwick, in conjunction with FA personnel attending FA Cup matches.

The Team of The FA Cup will comprise Player of the Round winners from the First Round Qualifying to the Semi-Final. Gosport Borough’s Jamie Laidlaw is already in the team after scoring both goals in his side’s 2–1 win at Eastbourne Town.
