Ian Wright v. Manchester United: Goal

Ian Wright came on as a 69th-minute substitute with Crystal Palace trailing Manchester United 2-1. A minute later, the match was level.

From the four choices, Allan Clarke v Arsenal in 1972, Ray Wilkins v Brighton & Hove Albion in 1983, Keith Houchen v Tottenham Hotspur in 1987 and Ian Wright's first goal against v Manchester United in 1990, Wright's spectacular impact as a substitute won it.

Crystal Palace took the lead on 18 minutes through defender Gary O'Reilly's looping header but favourites Manchester United equalised after captain Bryan Robson struck home on 35 minutes.

Alex Ferguson's side then went ahead when Mark Hughes hit home and that prompted Coppell to throw on Wright in the home of salvaging the match.

After bringing his side level, Wright then put Palace 3-2 ahead two minutes in to extra-time only for their dreams to be dashed by Hughes' 113th-minute equaliser.
