With nearly half of the votes cast, 22-year-old Gall's performance against Premiership Charlton seems to have caught the public imagination, and he certainly enjoyed the experience:

"It was great for all the lads to be involved in such a great game," he told TheFA.com.  "I think that, apart from 10 or 15 minutes at the start of the second half we were probably the better team on the day.

"Hopefully we’ve gained some good experience to take into the league."

Gall's rampaging forays down the right caused numerous problems for the Premiership side, and a spectacular jinking 50-yard run in the 44th minute also led to Paul Terry's equaliser.

Still the nomination for Player of the Round came as a bit of a shock to him:

"I was really surprised," he said. "I thought it was going to be a great day and that would be the end of it, but I came in on Monday and one of the guys said I’d been nominated for the Player of the Round. To be nominated alongside such illustrious players is great.

"I’ve now got all my family and friends backing me and I think every single person in Yeovil has voted for me to be honest!

"The support’s been great and everywhere you look on the internet there’s people talking about it saying vote for me"

As it stands Gall is ahead of Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ian Moore and Peter Crouch in the poll, and the Glovers' star is understandably over the moon:

"Ahead of Rooney is unbelievable – I must be doing something ok," he exclaimed. "I’d love to go on win it - it would be a great achievement in my career."

He is not far in front though, with only 7% separating him from Southampton's Peter Crouch, whose nerveless 93rd-minute penalty took the Saints into the Fifth Round at the expense of his former club Portsmouth.

With the voting open until Monday morning on our homepage it could still all change before we announce the winner later that day. Whoever ends up at the top of the tree will be crowned The FA Cup Player of the Round and become the eighth member of this year's Team of The FA Cup.

The main man will also be presented with the silver salver and £1,000 worth of UMBRO kit and equipment to be donated to a local school, club or organisation of his choice.
