There’s a five star look to the latest FA Cup Player of the Round award as fans decide who becomes the eighth player to join The FA’s Team of The FA Cup.

This five-man race is making FA Cup history for the second round in a row, as it is the first time that two players from the same team have been nominated for the award in the same round.

The five star field includes Manchester United sensations Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo, whose two wonderfully executed goals and magical footwork respectively were the highlights of the 3 - 0 victory over Middlesbrough at Old Trafford.

They are lining up against Southampton’s man of steel, Peter Crouch, who struck a nerveless 93rd minute penalty against his former club to seal a 2 - 1 win over rivals Portsmouth, and Burnley’s two-goal marksman Ian Moore who starred in the Clarets’ 2 -0 win over Bournemouth, continuing the recent FA cup success which saw Burnley reach last season's Quarter Finals.

Kevin Gall, the right-sided attacking midfielder whose tireless running starred in League Two leaders Yeovil’s narrow 3 - 2 defeat against Premiership side Charlton, earning rave reviews from fans and football commentators alike, completes the shortlist.

The player who secures the most votes will be crowned FA Cup ‘Player of the Round’ and will win £1000 worth of UMBRO football kit and equipment for a local school, club or organisation of his choice, plus an engraved silver salver.

The successful player will join Bishop’s Cleeve FC’s Kevin Slack, AFC Wimbledon’s Rob Ursell, Bath City’s Scott Partridge, Halifax Town’s Craig Midgley, Slough Town’s Alex Haddow and the Exeter duo of Dean Moxey and Paul Jones in The FA’s Team of The FA Cup.

The team will enjoy VIP status at The FA Cup Final at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday May 21, 2005 and will be introduced to the crowd at half time.

The Team of The FA Cup will comprise Player of the Round winners from the First Qualifying round to the Semi Final.

Last year’s team included five non-League players as well as Premiership stars Jose Antonio Reyes, Freddie Ljungberg and Bruno Cheyrou.

Fans have until 9.00am on Monday 7 February to register a vote for their player of the round on the homepage of TheFA.com, and those who vote before 4.00pm this Thursday 3 February could win themselves two tickets for a Fifth Round match of their choice - simply choose your player and submit your details to us here
