Slough Town’s FA Cup hero Alex Haddow, who recently won The FA Cup ‘Player of the Round’ Award, was presented with his prestigious silverware in front of the home crowd when Slough took on Yeading in Round Two.
Alex’s outstanding contribution in the First Round saw him poll the most votes on TheFA.com, earning him an engraved silver salver, £1000 of UMBRO kit and equipment to donate to a local club or school and a VIP trip to the Millennium Stadium in May for the 2005 FA Cup Final.
Alex was presented with his Player of the Round Award shortly before kick-off on Saturday by special guests Fiona McTaggart MP and Paul Hopes of the Berks and Bucks FA.
Alex said he was delighted to win the award: “I am over the moon. Winning the award is a great confidence booster and it’s nice to know our fans are behind us. Everyone at the club has enjoyed every minute of The FA Cup competition.”
Alex Haddow is the fifth player to join The FA’s Team of The FA Cup. He joins Kevin Slack (Bishop’s Cleeve), Rob Ursell (AFC Wimbledon), Scott Partridge (Bath City) and Craig Midgley (Halifax Town). The ‘Team of the FA Cup’ will be VIP guests at The FA Cup Final next May and be honoured with a half-time introduction to the crowd.
The poll to find The FA Cup Player of the Second Round is still running on the home page and until Thursday afternoon, you also have a chance to win a pair of tickets to any Third Round match of your choice. Click here to find out more.
