The Rebels star received over 80,000 votes in our official poll guaranteeing him a VIP seat at The FA Cup Final next May and a half-time introduction to the crowd.

Haddow, who tormented Walsall’s defence and set up Slough’s second goal in their 2 – 1 win over Paul Merson’s League 1 side in The FA Cup First Round Proper, gained 35% of the 230,000 votes cast.

Haddow said, “I am over the moon. Winning the game was fantastic for everyone at the club and now winning the award is a great confidence booster for the next game. It’s nice to know our fans are behind us. Yeading will be a tough team to beat, but we are looking forward to it and enjoying every minute of the competition.”

Haddow was one of four FA Cup First Round Proper heroes short-listed for the Player of the Round award, run in partnership with UMBRO, after he was nominated by Player of the Round panellist David Watters, News Editor of The Non-League Paper.

In second place, Lance Key of Histon United polled only 4% less than Haddow with 31%. Alfreton Town’s Lee Butler followed with 20% of the vote while Neil Cartwright of Hinckley United polled 14%.

Haddow’s heroics helped Slough earn a FA Cup Second Round Proper tie at home to Yeading on Saturday December 4 and the chance to add £24,000 to the club’s prize winning fund.

Alex wins £1000 worth of UMBRO football kit and equipment for a local school, club or organisation of his choice. He will also be presented with an engraved silver salver.

The Team of The FA Cup will comprise Player of the Round winners from the First Qualifying Round to the Semi Final. Last year’s team included five non-league players as well as Premiership stars Jose Antonio Reyes, Freddie Ljungberg and Bruno Cheyrou.
