Elliott has emerged as the surprise face in Dennis Wise's FA Cup Final squad, following an injury to Kevin Muscat in the semi-final against Sunderland.

Although he is a natural midfielder, Elliott has been groomed as the man to step into Muscat's boots in the right-back slot for Saturday's Millennium Stadium showdown.

Elliott, who was born in Wandsworth, has made 24 appearances for the Lions this season, a far cry from one year ago when he was a youth team player made to clean the senior players' boots after training.

Despite his quick rise to fame, however, the 19-year-old has ensured his feet remain on the ground, and he can't wait for the opportunity to face Manchester United on Saturday.

Elliott said: "It's been a very quick rise for me and I'm looking forward to marking Giggs.

"As a player he's incredible but I will just have to do my best.

"It's exciting to be playing in The Cup Final because at the beginning of the year I was in the youth team, and last year I was cleaning the other players' boots.

"But it hasn't gone to my head. I still do the same things and hang around with the same people.

"Of course I'm a bit scared but it's just a fantastic opportunity to play in such a big match against one of the best players in the world."
