United were unable to defend their championship after Arsenal went the entire season unbeaten to wrest the title from their rivals.

But Welsh winger Giggs insists there were only smiles at the Millennium Stadium this weekend as United celebrated beating Millwall 3-0 in The FA Cup Final.

He said: "Much has been documented about this season but to end up with an FA Cup is special, it always is.

"The FA Cup is probably the third trophy we set out for this season but it’s still a great trophy to win, you saw that with the fans and the way they reacted.

"We set out to win everything but this is still special.

"We had a lot of expectation on us because were overwhelming favourites, but we approached the game right. We produced everything in the game that we worked on in training all week so it was a really professional job.

"It was disappointing this season but to end it with The FA Cup we will go out and celebrate."
