United take on Millwall in The FA Cup Final on Saturday hoping to win their only trophy of the season.

Ferguson has experienced disappointment in the Premiership and Champions league so far, but former United defender Pallister is backing the Old Trafford outfit to lift the trophy on Saturday.

Pallister won The FA Cup three times under Ferguson and knows exactly what he demands from his players and he said: "On the whole I think United have probably not reached the heights they wanted to.

"Ferguson loves nothing more than proving people wrong and showing that he's still at the top of his form. He's a very passionate man and he'll be hurting as much as any Man United fan.

"I think Millwall will be buoyed by the fact United have not looked as dominant as they have done in previous years and they might see a bit of light there.

"But I think it is very important for United to win The FA Cup on Saturday. The two big trophies, the Premiership and Champions League, have gone now and Ferguson sets his stall out each year to win something.

"The FA Cup is the competition which set United off on their road to glory in 1990 and they've always been known as a good FA Cup side, so I'm sure the players will be up for this one."
