The FA Cup Sixth Round replay
Prenton Park, Tranmere
16 March 2004

Millwall are through to their first FA Cup Semi-Final since 1937 after they won tonight's Sixth Round replay at Prenton Park.

Tim Cahill scored the first goal for the Londoners as he finished a clever move involving Paul Ifill and Danny Dichio.

Neil Harris scored the second when his superb 20-yard volley was too good for Tranmere 'keeper John Achterberg.

The home side got back to within one goal of the First Division opponents when Gary Jones headed in four minutes from half-time. However Millwall held on and they will now face Sunderland in the Semi-Finals.

Millwall made the breakthrough in the 11th minute when Cahill found the corner after Danny Dichio had flicked the ball on. It was a cool finish from the Australian and just the boost Wise's side needed.

Millwall added a second in the 15th minute and again Dichio was involved in the build-up. He laid the ball into the path of Harris on the edge of the area who steered a glorious volley beyond goalkeeper John Achterberg.

Tranmere were thrown a lifeline five minutes before the break when Jones pulled a goal back. Iain Hume created an opening out of nothing on the right after being shadowed by Robbie Ryan.

His superb cross found the head of Jones, who made no mistake from inside the six-yard area.

Both teams created chances in the second half but it was the Lions who booked a trip to Old Trafford to take on the Black Cats, with a place in the Final, and almost certainly Europe, up for grabs.
