Club chairman Lorraine Rogers is hoping supporters from Everton and Liverpool will get behind her club ahead of their clash at the New Den.

She said: "Being the last club on Merseyside left in the competition is important, because hopefully we'll unite all football supporters across the Wirral and Liverpool and they'll support us on the day."

Rogers is concentrating on football matters ahead of the big match. She told TheFA.com:

"We're very proud to be in the last eight and, alongside Arsenal and Chelsea, to be one of only three clubs that have reached the quarter-finals in three out of the last five years. It's a massive achievement for a Second Division club.

"Just because we're the smallest club left in the competition it doesn't mean we're not ambitious. To be in the last four would be priceless and next Sunday our thoughts will be on the football and the occasion, not the financial implications."

Tranmere have already sent Premier League side Bolton Wanderers crashing out of the competition along with Chesterfield, Swansea City and non-League Hornchurch.

Brian Little’s side face another tough test in the capital but with the full backing of Merseyside behind them, an historic semi-final place could be on the cards.
