Colchester United

Peschisolido 61

A Paul Peschisolido header was enough to see off the brave hopes of Colchester as Sheffield United made it through to the last eight.

However, it wasn't a simple task for the First Division promotion hopefuls who were given a tough test by the men from Essex.  A number of decent chances fell to Peschisolido and his Blades team mates Wayne Allison and Phil Jagielka, but they couldn't find the target giving Second Division Colchester opportunity to respond.

Lone-striker Wayne Andrews caused some excitement for the visiting fans when his head met Paul Tierney's cross, but Paddy Kenny dealt with it well.  Sam Stockley and Rowan Vine also came close for the U's but just after the hour mark, and a free-kick outside of the visitor's box, the killer-blow came.

From the dead-ball Alan Wright sent in and Peschisolido was there to nod into the corner of Simon Brown's goal to give Neil Warnock's side the lead.

Colchester came close to earning a replay late on, but instead of Kemal Izzet or Karl Duguid finding the net from their efforts, Sheffield United found Round Six.
