Fulham and West Ham United will have to replay their FA Cup Fifth Round tie after a disappointing match at Loftus Road ended in a rather drab stalemate.

The First Division visitors got off to a good start and might have taken the lead had Marlon Harewood managed to finish when he found himself in a great position in the opening minutes.

It took Fulham a while to settle into the game but then on 27 minutes, Carlos Bocanegra nearly opened the scoring when he unleashed a fierce left-footed shot.

Fortunately for West Ham though Bocanegra's effort beat Stephen Bywater, the ball crashed against the Hammers' keeper's post.

Neverthless the visitors continued to keep pace with their Premiership hosts and either side of half-time, veteran striker Brian Deane had opportunities to cause an upset.

On 36 minutes, Kevin Horlock swung in an inviting cross which Deane met well with a trademark header. It looked to be a goal but Edwin van der Sar fell low to his right, stretched out a hand and clawed the ball away.

Just after the half-time break, Deane again had a good chance to score but this time his shot failed to find the target.
