The ex-QPR man was in inspired form at Carrow Road as he kept out everything that the Canaries could throw at him.

"From a club angle, it is a wonderful thrill to have one of our players recognised in this way," said a club spokesman.

"This is also another great honour for Tony to add to a distinguished career which includes being capped for Wales at three different levels- pro, under 21 and semi-pro."

Gary Pallister, who along with Bryan Robson conducted the 5th Round draw on Monday, was in no doubt as to who deserved the award.

"Tony Roberts threw himself around magnificently," said Pallister. "I mean, he kept his side in the match and was really unlucky to concede at the end, so for me, he deserves it."
