FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round,
Saturday 28th September
Winning club received £7,500
Bridges led at half-time but eventually bowed out of the FA Cup to their Ryman League opponents after a disputed second half penalty decision at Jubilee Field.
The Sussex League outfit took just four minutes to take the lead, Sean Gilby setting up Tony McKenzie.
But Aveley's moved up a gear after the interval and levelled when Neil Lacey's centre was converted by Jamie Blunden.
Then came the 65th minute turning point when Scott Langridge was judged to have brought down Danny Curran - although Bridges claimed Curran had been pulling Langridge's shirt.
Steve Mosley tucked home the penalty and Aveley wrapped up their victory when Blunden headed in his second goal five minutes from time.
