The past ten months have illustrated perfectly why we became Sponsor of The FA Cup.

Everything that makes this competition so special – the romance, the upsets, the drama and passion from the players and fans – has been prevalent throughout the season.

From Chasetown FC, the non-League club that has competed in the most FA Cup matches (eight in total) this season, through to Havant & Waterlooville in twice leading at Anfield, and Barnsley who secured their place in FA Cup folklore by knocking out Liverpool and then, for an encore, overcoming Chelsea in the Sixth Round.

Wembley then greeted Cardiff City, Portsmouth, Barnsley and West Bromwich Albion for a record breaking Semi-Final weekend, with over 166,000 fans descending on London all dreaming of FA Cup glory.

The achievements on the pitch have also been mirrored off it. As one of the UK’s leading energy companies, we launched Carbon Footyprint, football’s first national environmental campaign designed to reduce the carbon footprint of The FA Cup.

Over 163,000 energy saving pledges were made by supporters, such as leaving their cars at home to travel by coach, installing energy efficient lightbulbs or switching off their TV’s at home to watch the match together at the pub, saving over 22,000 tonnes of CO2 – equivalent in weight to 57 million footballs.

Thank you to all the fans who’ve taken part in the initiative, together we have made the beautiful game that bit greener.

As The FA Schools Partner, we also have been able to use the excitement of the competition to inspire over one million school children across the country to take part in our annual E.ON National FA Cup Schools Day.

On 24 April, primary school children traded their traditional lessons themed around the history and tradition of the world’s greatest cup competition.

So, as we approach the final chapter of another thrilling FA Cup campaign, I’d like to pass on my personal congratulations to both teams for getting to The Final. It’s a fantastic achievement and I wish you the best of luck in winning The FA Cup sponsored by E.ON.
