Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (Chelsea, 2000)

Signed from Atletico Madrid for £15million, equalling British record transfer fee... scored on his debut in 2-0 Charity Shield win against Man Utd... finished the season as Premiership's top scorer...

Chelsea chairman Ken Bates splashed the cash as he added Hasselbaink to the team that had beaten Aston Villa in the FA Cup Final in May.

Stamford Bridge fans the Dutch goal machine would provide the final impetus for a championship success and his debut.

He took just 22 minutes to score his first goal for his new club blasting the ball past Fabien Barthez. And a further strike from Mario Melchiot gave Chelsea a 2-0 win in the Charity Shield.

Hasselbaink went onto score 23 league goals in his first season to join Alan Shearer as the only player to have won the Premiership Golden Boot with two different clubs, having also done it with Leeds.

Overall, he has scored 70 goals in three seasons for Chelsea but the serious championship challenge has so far remained elusive.
