Dover winger Ricky Modeste scored the crucial match winner as his side recorded a 3-2 win over Guernsey in a five-goal thriller and booked their place in The FA Cup Third Round Qualifying.
There looked to be only one outcome after Dover raced into a two-goal lead with goals from James Rogers and Nathan Elder.
But Guernsey refused to lie down and staged a dramatic comeback when Glyn Dyer and Ross Allen brought the tie level at 2-2.
But Modeste stole all the headlines with a superb diving header to win the game and book Dover’s place in the next round of the competition.
Dover got off to a dream start when they opened the scoring in spectacular fashion after just eight minutes as Rogers curled a superb 20-yard shot into the roof of the net.
The away side could have doubled their lead on 31 minutes when a cross from Modeste down the right hand side picked out Elder who directed his close-range header just over the bar.
But Dover’s superiority paid off as they managed to add a second on 39 minutes.
Rogers in-swinging corner picked out Elder who managed to flick his header into the top corner.
The home side managed to pull a goal back just 60 seconds into the second half when Dyer took the ball around keeper Mitch Walker and slid the ball home.
Guernsey were well and truly back in the tie after they grabbed an equaliser on 65 minutes when Allen made no mistake from the penalty spot.
But any thoughts of reaching the next round were quickly ended when Dover got the crucial winner on 69 minutes.
Rogers turned provider when he sprinted to the byline and crossed the ball in for Modeste who made no mistake with a diving header from close-range which flew into the back of the net.
