This weekend's FA Cup ties attracted highest Sixth Round crowds for over 35 years

The FA Cup with Budweiser enjoyed its highest Sixth Round attendance figures since 1977 across the four quarter final ties played this weekend.

With near capacity crowds recorded at both Manchester City and Manchester United, along with healthy number attending Everton and Millwall's home fixtures, the average attendance was 42,969.

The figure topped the 30 year high of 41,023 set in 2011 and was the highest since the 51,344 average of '77 when capacities at club grounds were far higher.

This news follows the Fifth Round of The FA Cup also enjoying its highest average attendance for 30 years - 32,056.

Both Manchester City and Wigan Athletic triumphed on Saturday to secure their Semi-Final places at Wembley, however with Sunday's fixtures both ending in draws their respective opponents are still unknown.

Blackburn Rovers will play host to Millwall in the first quarter final replay this Wednesday, whilst a date for the replay between Chelsea and Manchester  United will be confirmed shortly.
