Danny Murphy believes Sunday’s FA Cup quarter final tie at the Den could go either way, given the nature of the Championship.

The Blackburn Rovers midfielder and his team-mates face League rivals Millwall for a place in the Semi-Final.

And the former Fulham and Liverpool man thinks home advantage for the Kenny Jackett’s side won’t really come into effect.

Murphy said: "When two Championship clubs play each other, it kind of becomes irrelevant whether it's home or away.

"There really is no consistency in the league, the bottom side can beat the top as we see all the time.

"There's a spring in the step of the lads and we're looking forward to the Millwall game.

“Some might say it's taken the focus off some of our more recent games, but I wouldn’t agree with that, we’ve just not had that quality.

"But I think it's important for the supporters and the area that they have something to look forward to and smile about and that's why we want to beat Millwall.”

Rovers pulled off the shock of the Fifth Round last month when they beat Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium to seal their place in the last eight.

And with a win on Sunday meaning a trip to Wembley for the Semi-Final, the 35-year-old is hoping the Lancastrians can build on that result in the capital.

He added: "I don't think anyone gave us a chance, in terms of the opposition we were up against.

"So to go there and get a win and come away with a result like that was fantastic for everybody involved with the club.

"That gave us the carrot of trying to get through the quarter final and a trip to Wembley.

"We've got that obstacle to overcome, but being one game away from Wembley creates a buzz.”
