Sheffield United striker Dave Kitson is gearing up for a 'dream' FA Cup return to Reading on Saturday - but his manager is plotting a right Royals nightmare.

Kitson, who had five years at Reading after joining in 2003, is set to return to the Madejski to face the manager who recommended him to the Berkshire club.

Brian McDermott told then-Reading manager Steve Coppell of Kitson's talents and that led him to the club.

And ahead of his return, Kitson said: "I owe everything to Brian, he was the one who scouted me from Cambridge and I will never be able to repay him enough.

"He was the first person to text me when the draw was made and, to be honest, for me personally, I couldn't have asked for a better draw, than returning to the Madejski.

"It is always nice to return because I had five fantastic years there and I still know a lot of people who have worked there for a number of years, who are good friends."

There may be some Cup romance ahead of this Fourth Round clash but Kitson's current manager Danny Wilson is strictly business.

The League One side may start as underdogs on Saturday but Wilson is adamant his side can spring a surprise.

He said: "We believe we can win the game, of course we do, but there has to be realism to that expectation. We are going to go to the Madejski and have a really good crack at Reading, we will give it everything."

"We face a Reading team that has just hit a purple patch in the Premier League and they are a terrific model for how to set up a club, on and off the field.

"It is a club many will try and emulate in time and I personally have great admiration for everything they do there."
