David Moyes has been preparing his squad for the prospect of dealing with Oldham Athletic on Tuesday, with a quarter final spot at stake.
The Everton boss felt his team were unfortunate not to win the original tie at Boundary Park ten days ago, when Latics striker Matt Smith scored a late equaliser to earn Oldham a replay.
And Moyes admits that the big Oldham forward is a different prospect for his team to face in comparison to the Premier League strikers they’re up against every week.
The former Celtic, Preston and Bristol City defender said: "That type of centre-forward was probably more prevalent in my day - we had one of them every week.
"I think it is less and less so the case now in the Premier League, so that is what makes it a little bit more unusual.
"I don't think there are quite as many teams using a big man the way Oldham do.
"But it is part of football and there is no right or wrong way to play.”
Oldham have been amongst the surprise packages of The FA Cup this season, beating higher division opposition in the shape of Nottingham Forest and Liverpool so far.
The winner of Tuesday’s replay face a home game with Wigan Athletic in the Sixth Round and Moyes knows the importance of a victory in for his club’s season.
But he also feels his side are due some decisions from the officials, after feeling Smith’s equaliser in the first tie should’ve been disallowed.
And he was also upset at the timing of the late goal his side conceded against Norwich City at the weekend, which saw them lose 2-1 at Carrow Road.
He added: "The job is to win, and whatever way you choose to do it, as long as it is within the rules, that is okay.
"But I thought it was a free-kick leading up to the goal in the Oldham match, and I thought the referee ran over time in the game against Norwich.
"I'm sure we have had some good decisions this year that have maybe gone in our favour - I'm not debating that and maybe someone will point them out to me.
"But the fact of the matter is, if you ask me if recent decisions have gone against us, I'd say they have."
