The FA Cup truly is up and running after dozens of clubs took part in the Extra Preliminary Round on Saturday - and nine seemed to be the magic number.
Ashington were the headliners as they put nine goals past Pontefract Colleries without reply - with Andrew Johnson scoring a hat-trick to earn a tie at Scarborough Athletic in the next round. But, incredibly, they weren't alone.
Bristol Manor Farm beat Oldland Abbotonians 9-3 in a 12-goal thriller, while Chessington & Hook managed to hit nine away from home, crushing Chichester City United 9-1.
Molesey couldn't quite join the 'nine club' - but there were nine goals to enjoy as they beat Hailsham Town 8-1.
There were nine goals at Holyport, too, as they lost 7-2 at home to Hanworth Villa, while Horndean beat Caine Town by the same scoreline.
Continuing the same theme Runcorn Town beat Winterton Rangers 7-2 while Godmanchster Rovers won 6-3 against Blackstones.
But just to prove it's not all about big scores, not everybody enjoyed a goal feast.
In fact, ten ties, including Arundel v Rye United and Ashford United v Worthing, ended goalless. Maybe the replays could turn out to be thrillers, though...
