Rafael Benitez was happy with the way Chelsea performed in their FA Cup Sixth Round replay defeat of Manchester United.
Demba Ba’s volley early in the second half secured a Semi-Final date at Wembley against United’s neighbours City on Sunday 14 April.
And the Blues boss praised his players after the game.
Benitez said: "I am really pleased because the players were doing a great job.
“Manchester United are a very good team and we did really well.
“We have good balance between the defence and midfielders. Physically you could see one or two challenges we could not cope [with] but with the ball we were much better.
"It was a fantastic goal by Demba Ba but everyone's performance was really pleasing. Petr Cech made some good saves but at the end of the day we deserved to win.”
The Spaniard also reflected on Chelsea’s run-in and his belief that they could have a successful end to the campaign.
The Londoners are battling it out with Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton for a place in next season’s Champions League, they are still in the running to secure a fifth FA Cup in just seven seasons and they face Rubin Kazan in the last eight if the UEFA Europa League.
Benitez said of the Blues’ Semi-Final showdown: "It cannot be more difficult eh? But if you want to win you have to play against the best. United is one, City will be another one. It's another challenge and we'll see.
"I think the race for the top four will go until the end of the season.
“Right now we are in the top four so we are in a very good position. We are in the Semi-Finals of The FA Cup, the quarter-final of the Europa League.
“I think it's a great season at the moment - and it could be even better."
Meanwhile, goalscorer Ba added: "To be fair I have scored similar goals like I did today against Manchester United for Newcastle.
“It was a brilliant pass for my goal [from Juan Mata] and the win is great for confidence for the rest of the season."
