Berkhamsted boss Mick Vipond is loving every minute in this season's FA Cup.

Berkhamsted manager Mick Vipond wants to guide his team to a fourth consecutive victory in what he says is one of the 'biggest competitions in the world'.

Vipond's Comrades take on Metropolitan Police on Saturday in The FA Cup with Budweiser Second Round Qualifying.

In only their second ever season in The Cup since their reformation following the demise of Berkhamsted Town, they are enjoying a run that has seen them beat Hoddesdon Town, Hadley and Uxbridge.

Alongside long-term sidekick, assitant manager Keith Hardy, the pair have been at the helm at Broadwater during the club's revival years and have enjoyed a number of success, something they hope will carry them on in The FA Cup.

Vipond said: "We've had some good times together. We've won four championships with different clubs and we had the opportunity to take over at Berkhamsted."

Hardy continued the story: "Unfortunately the old 'Town' side folded because of financial problems. They did well and reached The Vase Final (in 2001).

"The first year we won Division Two in the Spartan South Midland League, which is where we had to come in after being reformed.

"We then won Division One with record points. Two promotions in two years, and we won the Stanley Rous Trophy, which was a major achievement. So the aim of this season was to build on that and have a Cup run, which we haven't really done.

A last-minute goal in their 4-3 victory over Uxbridge in the previous round saw them through to the meeting with the Met Police. But it was not straightforward against Uxbridge.

After trailing 2-1 and 3-2, two goals in the last two minutes saw Berkhamsted overcome their opponents from the division above.

"I was sat in the dug-out and at one stage had my head in my hands thinking 'what are we doing?'," continued Hardy. "We were 3-2 down, got it back to three-all then we got an absolute class goal from Jordon [Frederick], I've never seen him do that before."

"I've had some great memories at this level, that's what I've been involved in. My team is Luton and I've had my fair share of downs with them, but I've seen them beat Arsenal at Wembley. This touches that for me, this is fantastic."

And Vipond summed it up: "I say to the players, 'you're playing in one of the biggest football competitions in the world'.

"We'll sit and watch the Final in May and think 'we were in that'. We've got through three rounds, and who knows, maybe four?"
