It’s almost 45 years since Chelmsford City and Colchester United last played each other in The FA Cup but the Essex rivals will be reacquainted in this season’s competition at Melbourne Stadium on Saturday.
22 miles, 62 league places and a stretch of the A12 separate the two clubs with over 3,000 fans expected through the turnstile for the First Round clash this weekend.
Wednesday saw The FA Cup with Budweiser visit Melbourne Stadium with two veterans of that 1968 Cup clash in attendance.
Tony Butcher was a stalwart striker of Chelmsford City in the Sixties while Terry Price was a winger for the U’s.
Colchester United won that game 2-0 and went on to face West Bromwich Albion where they were eventually beaten in a replay at the Hawthorns.
The Baggies would go on and lift the Cup that season, beating Everton 1-0 thanks to a Jeff Astle goal at Wembley Stadium.
And FATV were in Essex to speak to the pair and local fans as they prepare for Saturday's game. Watch the video in the Media Gallery above.
