Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish admits he is delighted to have led his side back to The FA Cup Final and is now just hoping to finish the job off with victory and a first Cup title since 2006.

After lifting the League Cup earlier this season, the Reds are now chasing a Cup double and Dalglish is looking forward to a third trip to Wembley this season after what had been a drought since 1996.

"The FA Cup Final is always one of the great days in the football calendar and we are delighted that we are going to be a part of it," he said.

"Reaching our second Cup Final of the season is an excellent achievement by everyone who has been involved in the squad.

"The only target we have ever set is to try to represent Liverpool Football Club as well as we possibly can. More often than not, the boys have done that.

"Winning the League Cup in February was fantastic for everybody associated with Liverpool, as it had been six years since we had last won a trophy."

With the infamous Merseyside support having backed the club so far in the competition, Dalglish now wants to make sure they're rewarded for their backing in The Final.

"We visited the new Wembley for the first time for the League Cup Final and this will be our third fixture here this season," he added.

"It has been an expensive couple of months for our fans, but I’m sure it has been a pretty rewarding one as well. We hope they will be able to enjoy another happy occasion on Saturday.
