Wembley FC player-manager Ian Bates admits his star-studded side go into this weekend's FA Cup clash with near neighbours Uxbridge as classic underdogs, but is hoping for another victory as the Combined Counties League outfit continue their Cup adventure.

Bates was boosted in the Extra Preliminary Round by the presence of former international stars like Claudio Caniggia, Graeme Le Saux, Brian McBride and Ray Parlour, as they saw off Langford to set up Sunday's televised clash.

Now, they are hoping to add more stars to their squad ahead of the tie and will need to roll back the years again when they head to the home of Southern League Uxbridge, with Terry Venables also acting as Bates' Technical Advisor and David Seaman as goalkeeping coach.

"I'm a romantic and I want to get to the First Round and a tie against a League club," admitted Bates, who played a key role on the pitch in the 3-2 victory over Langford. "But that's unreaslistic because we've got Uxbridge in the next round.

"I fancy Uxbridge instead of us and it's going to be tough, but if you can get through the next round, then you never know with the draw.

"So I just hope we can get through another round. We've got Le Saux, Parlour and Keown for the next one, so I'm happy with that!"

The progress of Wembley FC in this season’s FA Cup is being shown as part of a documentary series on ESPN. The eight-part series entitled 'Dream On. The Journey of Wembley FC' takes a closer look at the non-League game and Wembley’s signing of a number of household names. The first show aired on Thursday 16 August and continues this week, exclusively on ESPN.
