Leeds Carnegie booked their place in The Final of The FA Tesco Premier League Cup after recording an impressive 2-0 win over Chelsea.

Leeds, who will now face Everton for the first piece of silverware of the season, left it late to see off a resolute Blues side at Imber Court.

In-form striker Carla Cantrell grabbed the opener on 71 minutes before a mistake from Chelsea stopper Siobhan Chamberlain gifted Sophie Bradley the chance to stab home from close range and ensure a Leeds victory.

Those two strikes were enough to see Leeds through in what was only their first full game since early November.

But the result was marred by an injury to Jess Wright, only just returning from action, and on the same ground she injured her ACL last season.

“To have not played for so long shows the strength of the team,” Leeds manager Rick Passmoor told the Leeds Carnegie Ladies website. “Every player in the squad played their part in the win, and everyone is looking forward to the final.”
