Arsenal and Chelsea reach the semi-finals with big wins.
The FA Tesco Women's Premier League Cup
Third Round
Sunday 1 November 2009
There was little sign of any Cup upsets in Sunday’s big three League Cup ties as the highly-rated home sides in action scored a combined 15 goals without reply.
Holders Arsenal made it through to the last four with a 4-0 win over Southern Division side Keynsham Town.
Any chance of a giant-killing act disappeared before the break thanks to two goals from Arsenal’s Scotland international striker Julie Fleeting, who scored in the 25th and 42nd minutes. Katie Chapman added a third on the stroke of half-time.
But Keynsham dug in to restore some pride by restricting Arsenal to just one second half goal as another Scotland international, midfielder Kim Little, scored the fourth with 12 minutes to go.
Chelsea were the leading scorers of the day as they added to three first half goals with five more after the break to make it an 8-0 win over Bristol Academy.
Everton were 3-0 winners at home to Doncaster Rovers Belles, while the tie between Leeds Carnegie and Blackburn Rovers was postponed due to a water-logged pitch.
