Walton & Hersham will travel to Tooting & Mitcham United's Imperial Fields confident of causing an upset in the First Round Qualifying of The FA Trophy this Saturday.
According to Walton club secretary Michael Groom, the Isthmian Division One South team's start to the season, including their performances in the cups, proves that John Crumplin's side should not fear playing higher league opposition again.
Last weekend, Walton held their own against Isthmian Premier side Sutton United until an 86th minute winner from Sam Gargan confirmed their exit from The FA Cup at the Third Round Qualifying stage.
"It has been a very good start to the season," said Groom. "We had a good run in The F.A Cup and should've got a replay from the game against Sutton at the weekend, plus we beat Cray in the earlier rounds.
"In the league, we sit in 10th with games in hand and were unbeaten up until we played Worthing earlier this month."
Tooting have made a strong start to their Isthmian Premier campaign, currently sitting in and around the play-off places, yet this does not deter Groom's belief.
"We are heading into the Tooting game with an optimistic approach. They are high up in the Premier and it is going to be especially tough as we are going to their ground, but we'll be going for the win."
With The FA Trophy providing an extra source of finance, Groom also feels the competition holds an added incentive for the club.
"We aren't flushed with money, so it is a bonus," he revealed.
"The more you progress the better it is, both for the team and the club."
