The FA Carlsberg Trophy

United's Trophy mission

Chasetown v North Ferriby United

The FA Carlsberg Trophy
Second Round Qualifying
Saturday 1 November 2008
Winning clubs will receive £3,000 from The FA

North Ferriby United are determined to stop another memorable Chasetown cup run when they face the Staffordshire club in The FA Trophy Second Round Qualifying this weekend.

Chasetown were one of the fairytale stories in last season's FA Cup as they went all the way to the Third Round Proper before losing to eventual finalists Cardiff City.

And North Ferriby club secretary Steve Tather hopes Chasetown's underdog status doesn't play into their hands again.

"We are a league above them but you could say we are on equal footing. They are technically the underdogs but that seems to mean nothing to them as you could see last year," said Tather.

"We take each game as it comes and we can only do our best, but it's all about winning this one. They are a good team and they produce good football."

Chasetown are flying high in the Southern League Division One Midlands, having lost just one league game all season.

But North Ferriby United are also in good form going into the game and Tather believes his side can produce a magical run of their own in The FA Trophy.

"We have only lost two of our last 18 games, so we are also going into the match in high spirits. We are looking to go as far as we can do," he said.
