The FA Carlsberg Trophy

Another win for Kent?

Ebbsfleet United v Torquay United

The FA Carlsberg Trophy
The Final
2.30pm Saturday 10 May 2008
Wembley Stadium
Winning clubs receive £25,000

A Kent club winning in an FA Final at Wembley has been a rarity over the years, but Ebbsfleet United could be 90 minutes away from emulating fellow Kent sides Bromley and Deal Town in Saturday's FA Trophy showpiece.

Liam Daish's Ebbsfleet, who finished 11th in this season's Conference Premier, will play in their first Wembley Final at the weekend.

Bromley, who currently play a division lower, won the first FA Amateur Cup Final to be played at the old Wembley in 1949. The Lillywhites had won the competition on two previous occasions, at Herne Hill in 1911 and at Millwall in 1938, and a colossal 93,000 crowd saw them edge Romford 1-0 at Wembley.

Deal Town, managed by Tommy Sampson, were the last winners of The FA Vase at the old Wembley in 2000. Roly Graham volleyed in the only goal of the game three minutes from time against Chippenham Town and there were 20,083 fans inside the stadium, the best Vase Final attendance for 11 years.

The Royal Engineers, who played at Great Lines in Chatham, won The FA Cup at Kennington Oval in 1875 and Depot Battalion Royal Engineers, who shared New Brompton's ground, were FA Amateur Cup winners at Bishop Auckland in 1908.

Dartford were FA Trophy Finalists in 1974, losing 2-1 to Morecambe at Wembley, and it's a competition that could have its first Kent winners on Saturday.
