Second-half strikes from Adam Kimberly and Callum Green helped Glapwell secure a surprise 2-1 victory over Stocksbridge Park Steels at the Look Local Stadium. The Derbyshire side have made an impressive start to their Unibond Division One South league campaign and continued their recent good run of results against Stocksbridge Park Steels.
Glapwell were on the back foot for much of the first period, but surged into a shock lead two minutes after the restart courtesy of Adam Kimberley’s superb long range effort.
And the visitors doubled their advantage through Callum Green’s 68th minute finish.
Mark Ward pulled a goal back for Stocksbridge nine minutes from time but, despite the defeat, manager Simon Collins was pleased with the desire shown by his players.
“The performance was really good - in the first-half I didn’t think Glapwell could get near us," he said. "When we got the late goal we fancied our chances - Glapwell defended well but I think we deserved something from the game."
