Torquay United striker Tim Sills is looking forward to his first visit to the new Wembley for Saturday’s FA Carlsberg Trophy Final.

The Gulls’ hitman has not visited the new Wembley yet, but this weekend he’ll not only be in the stadium, he’ll also be on the hallowed turf trying to win The FA Trophy for Torquay.

“I’ve never been to Wembley since it’s been rebuilt and I didn’t really go to the old Wembley too much either, apart from the odd tour and look around it when I was younger,” explained Sills.

“Visiting the new Wembley was on my list of things to do and so was actually playing there as well, so I’m hoping to do both at once.”

Playing at Wembley is the dream of thousands of players across the country, but for Sills and his Torquay team-mates, that dream has become a reality.

“You go through the early rounds of The Trophy and everyone says that it’s a great incentive to go to Wembley, but it really seems miles away when you’re playing teams like Bashley and Newport away”, he said.

“But all of a sudden it becomes a reality and it’s a childhood dream come true for a lot of us.”

The Romsey-born striker has been an important member of The Gulls’ campaign and says that Saturday’s all-Conference Premier clash at Wembley will provide a great spectacle for the fans.

“I think it will be a great occasion,” he said.

“We have got to be confident that we can go and beat anyone at this level though and I think we’ve shown that at times this season.

“It’s a one-off game and we’re confident that we’ve got enough to win any match.”
