The FA Carlsberg Sunday Cup
First Round
Sunday 19 October 2008
Winning clubs will receive £200 from The FA
The 45th FA Carlsberg Sunday Cup competition has its First Round at the weekend.
The 62 ties feature several clubs who have featured in recent Sunday Cup Finals. St Josephs (Luton), for whom former Chelsea and England striker Kerry Dixon turned out in the 1990s, have appeared in no fewer than five finals. They were winners in 1995 and 1996 and runners-up in 1998, 1999 and 2006. On Sunday they travel to Waltham Abbey to play Loughton Nu Bar.
Nicosia, the 2004 winners, have a home tie with Oyster Martyrs; 2002 winners Britannia host Poulton Royal and 2001 winners Hartlepool Lion Hillcarter go to Barry's on Merseyside.
Fforde Grene Brazil will use Yorkshire Amateurs' ground for their home tie with Seymour KFCA, where it could be "just like watching Brazil". To continue the international theme, Leicester Polska will be in action at Warstones Wanderers.
Bedfont Sunday's Tosie Fasrino scored twice in a minute against Battersea Ironsides to take his side through to this stage and he'll need his shooting boots on again as the Middlesex outfit face a tough tie at Wycombe Town.
Sunday's winning clubs pick up £200 each.
