Peter Reid will return to one of his old clubs when Stoke play Manchester City in the Fifth Round of The FA Cup and he is convinced City will be fearful of the Potters.

Reid spent three years as player-manager of Manchester City from 1990 to 1993 and was at the helm the last time the blue half of Manchester finished above bitter rivals Manchester United in the league.

He's now assistant manager at Stoke City following his spell in charge of the Thailand national team and he's formed a strong partnership with Potter supremo Tony Pulis.

The pair masterminded a Cup shock over Arsenal as Stoke beat the Gunners 3-1 on Sunday, which has set them on a collision course with City.

Roberto Mancini's side set up the tie with Stoke following a 4-2 victory over Scunthorpe just a few hours later on Sunday and Reid is relishing the task.

"It's one of my old clubs and they beat us in the league a little while back, so it's going to be a tight contest between the two teams," he said.

"The law of averages dictates that we would have played them and it's going to be a great tie. We have had our home match in The Cup so we're away now - we've got to do it the hard way.

"But I don't think anyone would want to play us. They know they are going to be in for a really difficult game. It is a match all our players are really looking forward to."
