Kevin Gallen rolled back the years as he scored twice for Luton Town to hand the Conference Premier side a stunning 2-0 FA Cup First Round Replay victory over Rochdale.
Rochdale were favourites to go through after completing a remarkable comeback in the original tie from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 and they dominated much of the game.
But former QPR star Gallen, now 34, hit a second half brace at Spotland to send Richard Money’s men through to the Second Round.
His first goal came against the run of play when Andy Burgess burst away down the left and set up Tom Craddock to square the ball across the box, where Gallen was waiting to tap home from close range.
Rochdale were rocked and 13 minutes later Gallen made sure of a famous victory for the Hatters. This time it came from a Kevin Nicholls corner that was flicked on by Alan White and then headed towards goal by George Pilkington. Rochdale keeper Danny Taberner made a fine save but Gallen was lurking to finish it off from virtually on the line.
It was a tough moment for teenage youth keeper Taberner who had otherwise produced an impressive display on his debut. But after becoming Dale's youngest ever goalkeeper at the age of just 16 years and 147 days he looks to have a big future ahead of him.
Luton, however, are the team in the next round - where they will play Rotherham away.
