Paulton Rovers will be dreaming of meeting Football League opposition in a competitive game for the first time in just over one hundred years when they meet Chippenham Town at Winterfield Road in The FA Cup this Saturday.

The Southern Division One South & West outfit faced Crewe Alexandra in what was the Fifth Round Qualifying of The FA Cup during the 1906-07 season and are now just one step away from potentially facing a League One or Two club.

Although it isn't clear what the exact attendance was that day, club officials believe the crowd to have been close to 6,000 whereas this weekend's match is expected to bring in around four to five hundred people.

And after disposing of Bideford, Tiverton Town, Didcot Town and Newport County on the way to the Fourth RoundQualifying, Paulton club secretary Andrew Harris believes his team's chances of advancing to the First Round Proper remain high.

"The spirit within the side here is fantastic" he said. "We are on a good run, confidence is high and we are taking each game as it comes.

"We'll take on anybody and if we play our best, we have a good chance. We have a nice playing surface here and know the ground well too, so it is going to be interesting."

Despite Chippenham seeming a much easier fixture on paper than when Paulton welcomed Conference South table-toppers Newport in the last round, Harris feels that the game against the Southern Premier Division side could actually prove tougher.

"We know their manager Adie Ming quite well, as he has been down to see us in the last two or three games since the draw was made," added Harris.

"He'll have them ready unlike Newport County, who completely underestimated us. We won't be so much of a surprise for Chippenham."

The game will have an extra dimension added to it with both clubs only a short journey from each other, something that Harris is pleased about.

"It is a good draw that attracts local interest and therefore should bring a decent atmosphere with it."
