Eastleigh have already made history by reaching The FA Cup First Round Proper for the first time in their history, but are now hopeful of overturning a one division deficit against Barrow to put themselves in the Second Round draw.

"It's absolutely brilliant to be in the First Round," said Raymond Murphy, club secretary.

"We could have wished for a better draw, no disrespect to Barrow, but being in the draw is all that matters as it is new territory for us."

Eastleigh had their best ever league result when they finished third in the Conference South last season, but have not matched that success in this campaign as they currently sit in 15th spot having won just three of their last ten league matches.

"We didn't start well last season either, but we had a great run from November onwards to get us to where we finished in the league," explained Murphy, when talking about their indifferent start.

"We have been saving the better performances for the cup games this season which has helped us to have this Cup run."

They will face a 600-mile and a 12-hour plus round trip to Barrow, who lie 16th in the Conference and reached the Third Round of The FA Cup for only the second time in their history 12 months ago where they suffered defeat to then Premier League Middlesbrough.

Eastleigh will be hoping that top goalscorer Andy Forbes is able to add to his seven goals, while in defence they are hoping that Aaron Martin will show the form that has seen him touted for a move to near neighbours Southampton.

Murphy stated: "We are looking forward to it and just like being in the First Round Proper. We are hopeful of turning over Barrow but it will be a tough game."
